The company has no showroom, no sales force and does no advertising. Breen designs entice avid collectors to order ornaments sight unseen from simple artist renderings. Annually, eager collectors travel to "signing events" from coast to coast to meet Patricia and purchase the latest collection.

In the early nineties, Breen Designs was launched in just two rooms and a bathtub. After college Patricia and her husband Eric Shaikewitz went to Poland with MBA Enterprise Corp., similar to the Peace Corps -- but giving help and support to local businesses. While living in Poland, they grew to appreciate the beauty and quality of old pieces of Polish glass. By comparison, the new glass being produced in Poland was poor. Feeling that a precious craft was being lost, Patricia tried to work with the glass factories. But, the factories were more interested in quantity rather than quality, so she began to produce her own glass ornaments and she and Eric now live in Poland.

Patricia designs the ornaments and Eric sculpts the models. The couple launched their first designs in 1994. Breen ornaments, known for their fine micro-glitter and amazing detail are miniature works of art. The molds are limited to 2000 pieces, but ornaments are often capped at much smaller editions.
