Galena artist, Shirlee Methling, has a delightful new passion--miniature painting. Shirlee's little treasures are are as small as 2 inches by 3 inches when unframed. Her art studies began in college and she continues to learn and grow to this day. Shirlee has had a lifelong involvement with the arts as a professional dancer, a pianist, and home decorator. She is a member of the Galena Artist’s Guild, Galena Cultural Art Alliance and the Association of Miniature Artists that supports miniature art from all over the world.
About Miniature Art
- Delicate and painstaking technique that withstands magnification.
- Small in format and size: 25 inches or less for surface area.
- High in quality, demonstrating a mastery of composition, color, values, etc.
- Generally 1/6th scale or smaller with leeway for naturally small subjects.
