Beth’s “Birds, Real and Imagined”
Galena, IL- Beth Bird has created a brand new series of paintings for “Birds, Real and Imagined,” her upcoming show at BRIO Art Gallery in downtown Galena, Illinois. Her new works are of women with birds, some of which are realistic and some of which are whimsical. Bird’s original paintings, limited edition giclees, and etchings will be for sale. This is a special opportunity for collectors to purchase her original paintings which have not been offered for sale for a number of years.
During the opening weekend, Bird will add a remarque to her limited edition giclees at no additional cost. A remarque (pronounced ree-mark) is a small, personalized drawing or symbol that an artist adds near his or her signature on a reproduction or print. A remarque increases the value of the print and the artist typically charges an extra fee for it. Bird will personalize limited edition giclees with her remarque from 5:30 to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 12 and on Saturday, September 13 from 1:00 to 3:30 pm.
Bird earned her degree in Art Education from the University of Iowa, attended the Writer's Workshop, and completed her master’s degree in art therapy from the Chicago School of the Art Institute. As a Ragdale Fellow, she worked on the narrative art work of The Ballad of the Red Shoes. Her works are in numerous private and public collections.
“Birds, Real and Imagined” will run September 12 through October 12.
BRIO Art Gallery, located at 116 South Main Street in Galena, is open from 10:00 to 5:00 daily and carries paintings, bronze, glass, jewelry and other media by more than 25 regional and national artists. For more information, call Marsha at 815-776-1010.
