BRIO Art Gallery located in the heart of charming, historic downtown Galena, Illinois, opened at 116 South Main Street in April 2008.
Ed and Marsha Rinetti named the gallery in honor of Ed’s Italian heritage and because “brio” defines how they feel about art.
“We want BRIO to be a fun and comfortable experience for people,” Ed says.
The gallery carries work by regional and national artists representing many media, styles, and subject matter. Four bright gallery rooms are accentuated by a curved staircase and a three-story skylight. Two gallery cats, Colby and Reba, reign over the premises.

The road to BRIO began many years ago with Marsha’s mother, Viola, who was a self-taught, award-winning artist. She paid Marsha’s college tuition with her art. The dining room was Viola’s studio and the easel only came down for holiday dinners. Marsha grew up surrounded by art and artists. Viola taught her to paint, and today she enjoys working in soft pastel, watercolor, and graphite pencil.
